Artist's Comments

Project for my Drawing IV class. The assignment was "presence without form," simply, to show the presence of a person without actually drawing a person in the scene. So here we have a tea party (and some of you may recognize Socks from my older project, Nothing Under the Bed: [link] ) but it rather looks like the rain is coming in, and the little girl is nowhere to be found...

Original is 18 x 24", Prismacolor pencils on Canson Mi-Tientes paper.

Well what if there is no tomorrow? There wasn't one today! -Groundhog Day

This is lovely! I really like the contrast of the brightness near the tree that's still there, and the dark clouds approaching.
Good job with the scene, too, it's really wonderful. =)

This is very Hollywood, and yeah, I got the joke.

I love your pencils so much, and I think you grasped the concept very well! I really like the light effects on the blanket especially, and the rolling stormclouds in the background * *

The subject is very original and the colors are great. Bravo!

This is a great image, though with how you did it, for some reason it has a strange sad feel to it, was that intentional?

Still, the details and colors in this is really impressive and looks incredible.

Paradise lost is sometimes heaven found.
:iconflameraven:
I guess the slight sadness is intentional; certainly there's supposed to be some mystery as to the story here-- why did the little girl leave, and where did she disappear to? I didn't think it was sad, exactly, but it is a sort of puzzling situation.
