Second project for my digital class. The idea was to practice painting in Photoshop without lines, as I usually do. I figured if I was going to be trying a new technique, I might as well do it with a familiar subject... so here we have Mink and Puppy, off on more adventures.
It took me awhile to come up with the composition. I knew I wanted ruins and crumbly stone and I wanted some of those crazy tree roots that you see in Cambodian temples and beyond that... well, I didn't really know. But many sketches later, I finally got it.
As for what's up with those relief carvings, I'm sure I don't know. I drew in arches and knew I wanted carvings in there and... the figure with the hood just sort of showed up. Who they are or what they're doing, I have no idea. But they look cool. ;
The final result took awhile, but I'm very, very pleased with it. Painting without lines turned out to be not too bad, although it definitely did take longer.

Overall, it was like... 20. But I'm very lazy with layers so I sort of made a bunch, built up the basics underneath the lines, then flattened all of those, and then had a bunch of layers on top. There was definitely one layer each for Mink, Puppy, the background, the tree/roots, and the stone. Although it wasn't perfect, because again, I'm very sloppy with layers. And I had to do some corrections, so maybe a few more. o__o
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
