GenCon 2009!

Wed Jun 24, 2009, 10:08 PM
It's confirmed! I'm going to be in the Artist Alley in the Anime section at GenCon 2009, August 13-16. Note: This is not the main art show! This is a separate Alley set up in the anime section (because I have nowhere near the cash it takes to get a table in the official Art Show!)

Still, it will be open all four days, and should be pretty cool. If you're planning on going to GenCon, make a note to stop by! I'll update again with more details closer to the fact, but I thought I would let everyone know now. I'm very excited: this will be only my second time at GenCon, and the first time I've gone since it moved to Indianapolis; my first GenCon was all the way back in 2002! Craziness.

I'm also aiming to be at the inaugural Anime Crossroads, which is in November, but there's no official signups for that just yet. More info as it arrives, of course.

In other news, I'm working on getting a bunch of new art done, so expect updates fairly soon. As a teaser: think "dragon" and "pirates". :D

Hey there!

I found your steampunk wallpaper on here today, and wanted to ask you a special question...

I'm a student of fashion design, making a collection inspired partially by this new clockwork neo-edwardian craze, and I was wondering if I might be able to request the use of this background for use in my portfolio?

message me back, or email me @ mech.organic@gmail.com

Much love! Beautiful creations! <3
Well, what do you mean by "use in your portfolio"? Are you going to use it as an example of steampunk style? As inspiration for a separate fashion design? I don't mind if you want it as an example, as long as I'm clearly credited as the creator of the work, but I'd like to know a little more about what you're doing before I can say more, you know?
For my school graduation portfolio.
I'm doing a 3-look collection inspired by steampunk style, the wilderness, gypsies, western gunslingers, vaudeville, bellydancers, burlesque, the himba tribe, and the circus. You would be clearly credited as the creator of the background, & its just for something called "line development sheets" that I have to hand in. A drawing of my design, with line-flats of the outlines, a description of the garment, and fabric swatches. The only people that will be seeing it will be my teachers, and classmaates. Unless of course you would feel comfortable letting me use it for my full portfolio =] (still being credited as the artist, of course)
That makes sense. Go ahead and use it then. ;) I just like to make sure in these cases because a photo-manipulated wallpaper is a lot harder to identify the artist on, and sadly, the possibility of art theft on the Internet is quite high.
I spy with my little eye....a BETH MONSTER! *watches*
